Today, Trader Sam’s Grog Grotto, a fan favorite, was quietly announced that it was reopening as part of Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort’s official reopening today.

Since the shutdown and the reopening of Walt Disney World Resort, Trader Sam’s did not reopen. This could be due in part as only the DVC side of the resort was opened. Additionally, during this time period, Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort was undergoing refurbishments in both the guest rooms and the great ceremonial house, so its ongoing closure was not unexpected whatsoever.

Furthermore, back in May, there were some “signs” to which some speculated it would not make its comeback. Fortunately, today in Disney’s announcement these speculations were put to rest.

You can now once again explore this amazing tropical tiki bar filled with interesting artifacts and exotic treasures and experience the romance of the South Seas through unique food and drinks.

Finally, this is a great day for fans of Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort as things are getting back to normal at the resort. While there are still ongoing refurbishments at the resort, primarily with the Monorail station and Porte Cochère, its very exciting news!

For those who are unfamiliar with Trader Sam’s below is a great description from Disney:

A relaxing Island Oasis

Venture in to this tranquil hideaway for an enchanting evening packed with fantastic fun and delightful surprises. Explore the whimsically themed lounge—festooned with ancient artifacts and exotic treasures—or set sail for the open-air Tiki Terrace for a relaxing sip or nibble under the starry sky.

Does the name Trader Sam sound familiar? If you’re a long-time Disney fan, it should. Many years ago, famed Adventureland explorer Trader Sam was bitten by the bartending bug. And ever since then, Sam has searched for exotic ingredients to mix into magical libations.

Tucked away under the lush fronds of swaying palm trees, Trader Sam’s Grog Grotto is conveniently located steps away from the lavish lobby of the Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort.

Trader Sam’s Grog Grotto welcomes the whole family—including children—from opening until 8:00 PM. After 8:00 PM, only Guests 21 years of age or older may visit.

Volcanic Eruptions of Flavor

Enjoy a refreshing, handcrafted cocktail or a savory bite that is sure to satisfy your taste for adventure.

Delicious cocktails include the Polynesian Pearl, HippopotoMai-Tai, Tahitian Torch and the Dark & Tropical Stormy. To prove to your friends that you visited the grotto, you can even order your cocktail served in a collectible, Disney-exclusive tiki mug.

If you’d prefer something that reminds you of home, the finest beers and wines are also available. Plus, be sure to try the inventive, alcohol-free cocktails like the Schweitzer Falls and Skipper Sipper.

Hungry for a taste of the island lifestyle? Order a sharable feast to fill the wind in your outrigger sails. Sample pan-fried dumplings, chicken lettuce cups with hoisin ginger sauce or our kálua pork tacos.

Once you’ve tasted selections from our menu, you’ll swear that Trader Sam’s Grog Grotto must be enchanted by island magic!
