The summer season is starting to reach a conclusion. The theme park crowds levels will start to decrease. Generally, the crowd level begins to drop as the local Florida schools return to normal session. We will have to wait to see if that remains true this year. Universal Orlando expects lower crowds over the next few weeks though. With passholder appreciation days starting on Monday August 15th, they expect lower crowds starting then. Of course, the term “lower crowds” functions as a relative term. So, what should you eat if you are at Universal Orlando as you might imagine, I have three suggestions.
Sunday August 14th operates as National Creamsicle Day. If visiting on that day, only one treat makes sense. The Universal Orangesicle doughnut from Voodoo Doughnut provides guests with a unique flavored doughnut. I wrote a full review of that doughnut previously. If you recall eating orange style novelty treats as a child, this doughnut will bring back that memory.
The excellent quick service London Taxi Hut in London waterfront area of Universal Studios Florida theme park deserves a stop this week. This quick service location located near the Diagon Alley area provides hearty food options. For under $11, before discounts, you can get a jacket potato with several varieties of toppings. Since National Potato Day falls on August 19th, the London Taxi Hut offers several potato options. These baked potatoes provide a touch of nutrition within a theme park day. Final stop takes us back out to CityWalk to visit Toothsome Chocolate Emporium and Savory Feast Kitchen. In previous “Top 3” articles, I suggested sweets here. However, this time, we should enjoy a burger. You need to like pork products for this one though. The truest bacon lover option would be the May Contain Bacon Burger. This burger costs $18.95 with a side. This half pound house-made burger patty comes topped with lettuce, smoked thick cut bacon, grilled pork belly, pineapple chutney, and pepper jack cheese. A pretzel bun surrounds all this goodness.
