Looking for new and delicious Disney food is like a fun scavenger hunt each time you enter the Walt Disney World Resort. Guests can find interesting and delightful treats and meals for breakfast, lunch, and dinner around the resort.

My quest for delicious Disney food led me to Disney’s Polynesian Resort where there are a plethora of choices for all three meals of the day and all the snacks in between. Disney’s Polynesian Resort is home to fan favorite Ohana which serves breakfast and dinner, the Kona Cafe for breakfast, lunch, and dinner, Captain Cooks for breakfast, lunch, dinner, and snacks, Trader Sam’s Grog Grotto for drinks, Barefoot Pool Bar for drinks and snacks, the Pineapple Lanai for snacks, Tambu Lounge for drinks, Oasis Bar and Grill for drinks and snacks, and Kona Island for snacks, coffee, and sushi. There are options for eating at any time of the day to include Southern Pacific and Asian flavors.

I’m going to focus on one breakfast dish found at two restaurants at the Polynesian Resort: the Tonga Toast. This fan favorite breakfast dish is only available at the Kona Cafe and Captain Cook’s. This delicious play on French Toast is banana stuffed and rolled in Cinnamon Sugar. It is served and priced a tad differently at each restaurant.

The Kona Cafe is a sit down dining experience with servers. The Tonga Toast at Kona Cafe is $17 and includes the Tonga Toast, a Strawberry Compote, and your choice of Ham, Spiced Ham, Bacon, or Sausage.

Whereas the Tonga Toast at Captain Cook’s, which is a quick service restaurant, is $10.49. It is described as battered and deep fried sourdough bread stuffed with bananas and tossed in cinnamon sugar. It does not come with the Strawberry Compote, but does include your choice of side which can be several options including breakfast potatoes, sausage, or bacon.

The dish is essentially the same at either restaurant with the exception of some of the sides offered and the addition of the Strawberry Compote at the Kona Cafe. The decision is yours as to enjoy the sit down dining experience or the quick service dining for the Tonga Toast. It is a delicious and sweet breakfast treat that you don’t want to miss.
