Tim Conway Passes Away at 85

Emmy Award-Winning actor Tim Conway passed away today in Los Angeles.  He had been battling a long illness according to his publicist, Howard Bragman. His wife, Charlene Fusco, and a daughter, Jackie, were with him. He was 85.

Born Thomas Conway in the Cleveland suburb of Willoughby, in 1933. He attended Bowling Green State University and served in the Army.

He started out his career on local TV in Cleveland in the 1950s and he went on to be part of The Steve Allen Show, McHale’s Navy, Rango, The Tim Conway Show, The Carol Burnett Show (for which he’s most known).

Disney fans would know him from his rolls in The World’s Greatest Athlete (1973), The Apple Dumpling Gang (1975), Gus (1976), The Shaggy D.A. (1976), The Apple Dumpling Gang Rides Again (1979) and Air Bud 2 (1998). He also voiced Peterson in The Proud Family (2001-2005) and Mr. Griff in Hercules: The Animated Series (1998).

Mr. Conway was nominated for 13 Emmy Awards and won 6, three for his work on the Carol Burnett Show.
