The Scarecrow Stalk at Universal Orlando – A Trick-Or-Treat Event For All Ages

Universal Orlando is well known for their more grown-up fairly scary Halloween party event known as Halloween Horror Nights.  In recent years, they have been adding seasonal events to this time of year that are not so scary. These additions are nice and nothing to boo nor bash as theme park guests. One example, the Scarecrow Stalk appears to be becoming a seasonal tradition.

Universal Orlando has been creating excellent themed displays in their shop for holiday times. They have been creating a type of scavenger hunt to earn a treat at the end with these displays, in 2020, they created a trick or treat trail for children to enjoy at Islands of Adventure. This year, they have combined these ideas into the 2021 version of Scarecrow Stalk. This trick or treat event is open to people of all ages.

Interested guests can collect candy from various locations around the resort. They just need a map. This map will cost you $10. It comes with a chocolate candy bar and a plastic themed bag to carry your trick or treat goodies. On your adventure, you will check out the scarecrow at each designated location. You will then find the trick or treat sign, near a cash register, where a team member will stamp your map. After this, they will give you candy.

Most of the candy on your scavenger hunt is standard candy with “smarties” and “whoppers” for example. We were most disappointed that at Toothsome Chocolate Emporium that we got “tootsie rolls.” Now there is nothing wrong with this candy, but it is not up to the standard of Toothsome in terms of sugar satisfaction.

Depending on the type of candy offered at each stop, you will receive up to 4 pieces of candy at each stop. The candy is a nice touch showing that Universal Orlando is trying to give their guests a little more. The level of candy was disappointing based on candy offerings at other area theme parks though. In addition, you do not need to complete all your trick or treating in one day. You can do this in multiple park visits until October 31st.

Now, the scarecrows themselves were well done. You can find them with or without a map inside both land parks and CityWalk locations. There are 14 scarecrows in total. There are six in each park and two in CityWalk. These store decorations are become a well-respected staple of holiday seasons at Universal Orlando. They are well worth your time even if you do not want to pay $10 to trick or treat.
