As you know Disney’s complimentary Magical Express service will be ending on January 1, 2022. Now there is a new option to consider if you need transportation to Walt Disney World Resort Hotels, and in 2022 Universal Resort Hotels–Sunshine Flyer.
Sunshine Flyer offers a fun, themed transportation experience beginning in February 1, 2022, reservations can be made now.
Their buses are “late model, premium motorcoaches” that are themed to old style trains or passenger cars. Even the staff dress up in period 1920’s costumes.
“Each Motorcoach will be wrapped either as a 1920’s era locomotive or passenger car. No two vehicle designs will be the same, providing a distinctiveness for each Sunshine Flyer ride, giving first time riders and returning guests a new experience and photo opportunity each time they ride The Sunshine Flyer. ”
Pricing
The prices aren’t as good as the Magical Express free service, but they aren’t bad, and the experience sounds like it make the extra cost a bit easier to swallow.
Adult pricing:
One Way – $17 / Round Trip $34
Child Pricing (3-8):
One Way – $12.50 / Round Trip $25
(children 2 and under are free)
The site lists the following as destination locations:
Walt Disney World – ” The Sunshine Flyer offers transportation to all Walt Disney World® Resort destinations in Orlando, including Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort & Spa, Disney’s Contemporary Resort, Disney’s Pop Century Resort, Disney’s All Star Movies Resort, Disney’s Caribbean Beach Resort, Disney’s Animal Kingdom Lodge and more.”
Universal Orlando and Disney Partner Hotels- “In 2022 The Sunshine Flyer will be adding new locations to our service, including Universal Orlando Hotels, International Drive Hotels, along with other Disney Partner Hotels.”
Right now it seems like they may only have two buses, but many more, with different passenger car and locomotive designs are coming. You can see those designs HERE.
It’s such a cute concept.
Sadly there are not going to be any free versions for travel from the airport to your destinations anymore, but there are more options popping up. Renting a car or Lyft/Uber are still very good options if you are concerned about being on a shared bus with people.
Sunshine Flyer does look like a lot of fun.
