Staying at a Disney’s Old Key West

Recently, my family stayed at Disney’s Old Key West Resort in a deluxe studio for one night. We rented Disney Vacation Points (DVC) from a DVC owner. This was an amazing deal to stay at a Disney resort. We wanted to enjoy the resort as much as we could on our day at the resort.

On My Disney Experience, I asked for our room to be on Peninsular or South Point Road since we didn’t spring for a location hear the Hospitality House, so we were closer to the Sandcastle Pool (main pool). I also let them know that we’d roll into the resort around 12:30pm. Our room was actually ready around 1:30 and located in a corner unit in South Point Road.

The deluxe studio has two Queen sized beds and sleeps 4 people. There was a door that lead into another unit which I could see from our balcony. I believe that it’s originally a two bedroom which was turned into a one bedroom and a deluxe studio. I have stayed in a two bedroom before, and that was the set up. We had a view of the waterway to Disney Springs.

We took great advantage of the Sandcastle Pool. The pool is large with multiple lifeguards on duty. There is a kiddie pool, a sauna, and a hot tub as well. My 3 year old son took advantage of the kiddie pool for hours. Our daughter, 8, was very excited when lifeguards and recreation staff played a game of “keepie uppie” with a large beach ball and the guests in the pool.

We returned the room and ate pizza for dinner. We relaxed in the well air-conditioned room for the remainder of the day. However, there are a lot of other amenities available including bikes to rent, a boat to Disney Springs, and a variety of activities. While we were in the pool, guests were able to tie dye shirts for a fee in the Community Center.

The next morning we went to Magic Kingdom to enjoy the parks for a bit. We are Annual Passholders and visit the parks often.

Overall, we had a great stay at Disney’s Old Key West for the one night we stayed. I would recommend a stay at Old Key West either as a cash paying guest, DVC member, or renting DVC point.
