The calendar creeps closer to Mardi Gras season at Universal Orlando. Mardi Gras starts February 5th, 2022. However, the signs of Mardi Gras being near increase daily. We have more merchandise. More food tent/booth decorations blossom every day. Even the façade for Tribute Store appeared recently. As a result, let us take a “photo” stroll around to see some of the happening in preparation for Mardi Gras.

MERCHANDISE

Some more merchandise appeared in the All Hallows “Voodoo” Boutique over at Islands of Adventure. For a little while, this store has offered mugs, socks, shirts, and similar merchandise. Much of the merchandise resembles standard options. Though I may have totally missed it in photos before, a shirt with a different design with a creepy skeleton holding a guitar caught my attention. In addition, the candles themed to Mardi Gras (and other things) increase in number across Universal Orlando.

TRIBUTE STORE FAÇADE

At Universal Studios Florida, this year’s façade for the Mardi Gras Tribute Store made its presence known recently. With the theme of “Float Factory Warehouse”, guests will be transported into a journey to experience a Mardi Gras float being built from start to finish. So far, this façade adds to that theming nicely. This Tribute Store opens for annual passholders on Feb 3rd around noon. All other guests may start experiencing it on Feb 4th. For more information about what we expect in this Tribute Store click here.

Also, in case you missed it, the Classic Monster’s Tribute style store opened on January 28, 2022. This themed store opened on other side of the Revenge of the mummy attraction so that attractions is surrounded by tribute style stores. This section of the park will be filled with fun merchandise locations.

FOOD TENTS/BOOTHS

Universal Orlando placed more emphasis this year in terms of theming of the food areas for Mardi Gras. We have a steam-punk style one. Near the Springfield area, we have a “plant-based” food tent. Over in Kid Zone area, Universal created a “volcano” themed food tent. Typical Mardi Gras banners and decorations adorn the usual bar area near the lagoon. Though nothing official yet, we expect themed New Orleans style drinks/food sold here.

As the time moves closer to Feb 5th, the opening night of Mardi Gras at Universal Orlando, we expect more decorations to appear. This will especially be true once the Rock the Universe concert event concludes. If you are planning to attend Mardi Gras, get ready. Also, prepare so your feet don’t fail you now!
