‘Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance’ Technical Issues Causing Shortened Attraction Experience For Some Guests

Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance opened on December 5, 2019 and since then there have been many reports of the ride temporarily breaking or facing delayed openings.

Disney has also been touting it as an 18 minute experience that combines interactive queuing areas with the actual ride-through attraction. Honestly, it’s about 5-6 minutes of actual ride-through. You can read a full synopsis HERE.

That leaves the rest of the time for the queuing back story explaining why you are there with Rey and then onto the shuttle with Lieutenant Bek, and then through the First Order Trooper room, and then into the processing area and finally arriving in the cell. There is a lot that happens in the queue and it’s all important to the over-all story.

We are hearing from more and more people that they are skipping the Rey and Lieutenant Bek pre-show areas and coming straight into the First Order Trooper room. Essentially cutting out the entire story about how you got there.

Guests who don’t have a lot of information on the attraction are confused. What good is a highly immersive queue with a elaborate story elements vital to the ride story, if guests aren’t going to hear them?

Taking all that out definitely cuts the “attraction time” down as well. I know I would have been upset if I got to the park, in the early morning, got through the hurdle of getting a Boarding Group and then having 1/2 the attraction be down, or having animatronics be down (which has also happened before and WDWNT put up a video on YouTube.)

It isn’t just us here at PNP and Clownfish TV reporting on it. The latest report has come from Theme Park Tourist. We keep getting called names and told we are “negative” because we have been reporting on the very real issues that have been part of this opening.

We rode the attraction on February 3rd, and there was a notice that the ride was down for a short while before we rode it. However, we got to experience the entire attraction. People are coming from all over the world for this and they already might not get to ride at all and if they do, they might not get to see the entire attraction.

This is why we have said that they needed more time before opening, but Disney wanted to get revenue on the books and opening Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge without both attractions was keeping people away. Perhaps they should have waited until 2020 to open the entire area at once, and given themsevles more time to perfect the very complicated ride systems.

If you are visiting Walt Disney World or Disneyland please note that as of right now you need a Boarding Group to ride Rise of the Resistance. You must be scanned into the park by opening to get a pass, and you might not get to ride the complete attraction.
