What is a Droid?

Here’s what the contest considers a “droid.”

Droids are the mechanical beings of the Star Wars galaxy, the intelligent automatons that work to make the lives of organic beings easier or more efficient. Droids are classified by the degree of their programming’s complexity – some are so advanced as to be entrusted with medicine and surgery, or the repair and maintenance of sophisticated technology, while others are only qualified for menial tasks. No matter what their function, droids typically have the following capabilities: locomotion, sensory input, manipulation, and some form of communication.

I love this idea because Force for Change it teaming up with First, a youth based robotics community. It’s such a good idea and a fantastic way to get more kids involved in science and technology. If you or your child has any interesting in robotics and technology make sure you check out their website!
