Star Wars Fans Start Petition To Save Slave 1 Name on Boba Fett’s Ship

Previously we reported that Disney has instructed LEGO, and likely other companies making ‘Star Wars’ products, to not use the Slave 1 name for Boba Fett’s Ship.  Instead they are using “Boba Fett’s Starship” as the name for toys and merchandise based on the ship.

Fans immediately reacted including the Special Edition Boba Fett actor Mark Anthony Austin. The response has not been exactly positive.

Now fans are taking it one step further and have started a petition on Change.org asking the decades old name remain. Cody Pirkle created the campaign and as of now they have over 1,100 signatures on the new petition.

Here’s the write-up:

Recently it has been revealed by jedinews.com that the iconic space-ship that Boba flys around in Star Wars will no longer be using the name “Slave-1” for unknown reasons. Disney has requested all companies including Legos and Topps trading cards to stop using the name. We want you to sign this petition showing that you still want the name to be the Slave-1 not and “Boba’s Star Ship”

I appreciate their dedication, but it’s unlikely Disney will listen.  They’ve been challenged with Change.org petitions before and have not changed their stance. Especially when it involves their “Diversity and Inclusion” team.

There are several petitions to Save Splash Mountain. One with over 90,000 signatures, but it hasn’t changed anything.

Since they’ve already gone to the toy companies and manufacturers to stop the name moving forward, it’s unlikely they will change that stance.  They could have at least had another name that was similar like S1 or something instead of the ridiculous “Boba Fett’s Starship.”

This was too funny not to share though.

Either way, I fully expect a ship name to appear in the upcoming “Book of Boba Fett” series because I doubt Disney is just going to let it stay as the generic title.
