Sony Says There Will Be Three More Spider-Man Films Coming

Good news for Spider-Man fans today! It appears that Sony is going to move ahead with three more Spider-Man films after they split with Disney and the MCU.

According to Spider-Man producer Amy Pascal (who worked on the Spider-Man films with Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield), there will be three more films and Tom Holland and Marvel will be involved with the next film.

During an interview with Fandango Pascal offered this comment:

“This is not the last movie that we are going to make with Marvel – [this is not] the last Spider-Man movie. We are getting ready to make the next Spider-Man movie with Tom Holland and Marvel. We’re thinking of this as three films, and now we’re going to go onto the next three. This is not the last of our MCU movies.

At the end of ‘Venom Let There Be Carnage’ (which is coming out for digital soon) there was a post credit scene that tied the Sony Venom film to Tom Holland’s Spider-Man. From that many fans were already thinking that Sony and Tom Holland were going to do something with a multiverse in live action or with the MCU.

As of now all this tells us is that Tom Holland is back for one film. What could that mean?

Now we have the multiverse established at the end of the second Venom film and recently Tom Holland mentioned that he felt it was time to bring in Miles Morales.

In an interview with GQ Magazine Holland said:

Maybe it is time for me to move on. Maybe what’s best for Spider-Man is that they do a Miles Morales film. I have to take Peter Parker into account as well, because he is an important part of my life. If I’m playing Spider-Man after I’m 30, I’ve done something wrong.

I found that statement interesting for two reasons.

1. Not long ago Tom Holland said he wanted to play the character until he couldn’t walk anymore in an interview with Rotten Tomatoes.

I honestly would play Spider-Man until I can’t walk anymore.  love this character so much and it was like my childhood dream to play this character. I’m loving it, I’m really enjoying it. I’m really loving what we can do with this movie and the people that we can touch and the amazing things we can do with the platform that this movie gives us. So I’m just really enjoying it.

Of course that was two years ago and a lot has changed since then.

2. He mentions Miles Morales. Because that character would be an obvious choice as the Peter Parker replacement. Given that Sony’s animated ‘Spider-Man: Into the Spider-verse’ did so well and the popularity of Miles, it would make perfect sense to bring him into the Sony films and further separate them out from the MCU.

Personally, I wouldn’t mind seeing some films with Miles Morales.

All of that aside, we have good news and it is loose confirmation that we are indeed getting more Spider-Man after ‘Spider-Man: No Way Home’ and we already know we are getting some amazing Spider-Man universe films from Sony as well.
