Now for a bit of good news! Some of the unionized cast members in the Food and Beverage and Housekeeping sections will be getting raises beginning in October according to the Local Unite Here 737 Union Facebook Page.
It says:
By this we can see that Housekeeping and Food & Beverage workers are getting .75 to $1 per hour increases in their pay.
Now, this is great news for the cast members who have been called back. But sadly there are many that have had their furlough extended. Hopefully they will be called back soon. Disney is scheduled to open more restaurants and hotels in the future, so hopefully more people can get back to work soon.
Florida has been suffering from a huge drop in the tourism industry and it’s impacting the entire state driving up the unemployment rates. Visit Florida and Governor DeSantis are trying to launch a new marketing campaign targeting the state’s residents in an attempt to boost the tourism industry. Hopefully it can improve the situation for all those impacted by the shut-downs.
