Shop Disney Releases Extra Disney Castle Collection Items Irate Collectors Review Bombed The Products

Disney recently initiated the new Merch Pass for their Disney Castle Collection, to make it more “fair.” Lately, limited collections have been riddled with issues, likely caused by resellers using bots to purchase a large quantity of the inventory. It was especially bad on May the 4th.

Today Disney released extra items for the Disney Castle Collection in very limited quantities. But what was really interesting to me are the comments on the items. It seems unhappy collectors are using the review section to air their grievances about the new Merch Pass.

Let’s look at reviews on the Disney Castle Collection Pin, which had more availability than the ornament.

Some had legitimate reviews involving quality:

2 out of 5 stars.

Poor pin quality

I’m not too happy with the hinge and quality of this item. $30 for a pin is very expensive and it should be top quality.
The merch pass did not solve the bot problem but it did eliminate wasting hours on release day fighting website crashes and bots. The spaced out time frames we helpful and less stressful. That was the ONLY good thing about the merch pass.

Very Upset!

I was able to but the first in series by waking up and getting it first come first serve. I wasn’t able to get this one(my favorite) because they started that stupid merch pass. I wanted to get everything from this castle but now I can’t unless I buy it for so much more on eBay. Change the process back please!!! I can’t even get other items as well! Plus! It still pops up, giving me how u can get one!:(

So Frustrated!!

I didn’t win my merch pass so now I’m almost certain I’ll never get the complete set. I’m so frustrated! This was a terrible idea for Disney to execute.

Disappointed. Only place you can purchase is on E

If you followed the rules for lottery it should have been fair but scalpers received a large quantity so true collectors will need to pay at least double

Disappointed 🙁

Daughter sad we weren’t selected in the lottery. Now, she won’t be able to complete the set. I realize Disney is a company and needs to make a profit; so, make and sell more of these pins!

The reviews go on and one. Of course some were happy, they won the lottery system and got the item they wanted.

Lucky Collection!

Not sure how Disney chose to distribute the Merchpasses but I place an order almost every week because I love all things Disney!! I got very lucky to get chosen for all the items I requested and so I gladly purchased everything that was reserved for me 🙂 This reminded me of Ticketmaster’s Verified Fan where fans with a long history of attending said concerts have a better chance of being chosen for verification. MerchPass for actual Disney fans provided a fast and smooth checkout!! Very grateful to have been chosen but I completely understand the frustration for those who weren’t as fortunate 🙁

Can’t make everyone happy, myself included

I don’t know what the solution is for this issue. The Merch Pass made it more fair in the fact that it was a raffle, but many are just stopping their collections. I personally collect the Minnie Mouse: The Main Attraction series. I did collect the pins, ears and plush, and I could get them each time with patience (usually 1-2 hours of trying). Now, I know I will likely not get get any of the items or only one each time. The prices on eBay are ridiculous. I have no store close by. I’m seeing many selling off their collections because they are in the same situation and they don’t feel it’s worth the hassle.

The lottery is likely the most fair way, but it will make it impossible for many to actually collect entire series of items, unless they are available in store and they have access to a store.
