Shang Chi’s Producer Speaks On Ant-Man Rumor

The upcoming Shang Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings is releasing releasing Friday and is predicted to have a decent opening weekend, though the long-run success has some people doubting. The film is described to be a mix of Marvel and classic Martial Arts films inspired by Bruce Lee and Jackie Chan.

With this film being a Marvel movie of course many people expect to see cameos and references to other characters in the MCU. A recent rumor suggests that Paul Rudd’s Ant-Man will make a surprise cameo in the film. It seems like an interesting choice for a cameo, he was a key player in Avengers: Endgame and is considered one of the more “funny” members of the lineup. Perhaps seeing a fun visual gag with the Shrink/Grow technology in a Kung Fu film would be interesting to see.

In a recent interview with the film’s producer, Johnathan Schwartz, shaded some light on the suspected cameo:

“We did talk about other characters who might make sense, both in San Francisco and elsewhere, so there are a few different iterations with other folks who could have popped up, I think there’s always a little bit of give and take there. But you know, the script evolved over time, into what it was, and ultimately we were telling Shang’s story, so I think we’re very happy with the version that ended up on screen.”

So it appears that this rumored cameo seems unlikely as this did come straight from the horses mouth. Though you never know when it comes to these films, you often get many surprise appearances in Marvel Films.
