For some time multiple Star Wars fans have commented on how Marvel actor Sebastian Stan resembles a younger looking Mark Hamill, the actor who portrayed Luke Skywalker in the original Star Wars Trilogy from 1977 – 1983. There have been many fan campaigns saying that if they were to make a film or tv series for Disney Plus that the actor would make a perfect fit for Luke since Mark Hamill obviously no longer resembles his younger self. There have even been some fan edits done in photoshop of the actor in the role.
In a recent interview with Esquire about his upcoming series Pam and Tommy where he plays the real life musician Tommy Lee the subject about him looking Luke a Young Mark Hamill came up and asked if he would consider playing the iconic role:
“Look, it’s really kind. Never say never.“
The actor also joked about how Mark Hamill was actually his father:
“Mark Hamill is my father, you know, and he knows that. I call him every Christmas to tell him, ‘Just want you to know I’m around.’ It’s really terrifying.“
It would definitely be interesting to see the Marvel actor jump over to Lucasfilm and play a Star Wars character. It has been done before though. Samuel L. Jackson was swinging his purple lightsaber well before he was giving mission briefings to the Avengers. And since both franchises are owned by the house of mouse it might be easier than ever before.
Will he ever take up the role? It’s hard to say. When Alden Ehrenreich put on Han Solo’s jacket and flew the Millennium Falcon back in 2018 it resulted in a box office bomb and practically killed the “Star Wars Story” sub-series of films. They have since been relegated to Disney Plus shows. So he may be reluctant at this point. But who knows.
Do you think he would make a good Luke Skywalker?
