It’s almost time for the runDisney Virtual Series to open up for registration.  This year the theming is around “The Lion King.”

I myself am a big fan of the runDisney events. The virtual ones are great for those who can’t make it to the parks for a runDisney event, or want to participate in their home town at their own pacing!

Every summer runDisney offers a virtual 5K running series where you can register for one or all three races. If you complete all three you can get a completer medal as well.

Each race will be $40, or you can do the entire series for $145!

Keep in mind these are only open to U.S. Residents or those with a U.S. mailing address.

Please note this event is open to residents of the U.S. and U.S. Territories only, and medals may only be shipped to addresses within these regions.

Here’s the write up for this year’s event:

This summer, join runDisney in celebrating 6 years of the runDisney Virtual Series as we honor the timeless majesty of The Lion King with 3 wild and wonderful 5Ks. So, put on your manes and tails and prepare to rule the road, sidewalk or treadmill. Each event features a medal inspired by The Lion King, and if you run all 3, a fourth runDisney Virtual Challenge medal is yours! You can even download a themed bib and a Virtual Series at-home tool kit that includes a starting line, finishing line and printable mile markers.”

The three runs are:

Unleash your inner lion or lioness over the course of 3.1 miles. Your effort will earn you a commemorative medal celebrating the 1994 animated classic, featuring a playful young Simba!

Run, walk or dance your way through this 5K and be the envy of the pride when you earn this show-stopping medal, inspired by the long-running, award-winning musical.”

Journey 3.1 miles through your local savanna and celebrate the circle of life that surrounds you. Your reward? An intricately designed medal featuring an iconic scene from the 2019 film, which brought treasured characters to life in a whole new way.”

The Mane Event – 3 Virtual 5Ks for a Total of 9.3 Miles! Completion Timeframe: April 8 – August 31, 2021

The runDisney Virtual Challenge includes all 3 Virtual 5K events. Complete them all and earn 3 finisher medals plus a bonus Challenge medal! This one-of-a-kind medal features Rafiki’s Ancient Tree painting of Simba, complete with the red baobab marking across his mane!

Please note: you must register for the runDisney Virtual Challenge to be eligible for the Challenge medal.”

Registration opens up on April 8th at 10AM EST
