Greetings Programs!

A lot of people have been asking for Tron 3 for awhile now. The original 1982 film is a cult classic and the 2nd film, Tron: Legacy, came out ten years ago. Rumors kept swirling around about a possible third film, which would hopefully actually have Tron in it, but nothing ever came of it.

Now reports are coming in that Tron 3 is actually moving forward with development and they are eyeing Jared Leto to star.

The story is coming from the DisInsider but nothing is really concrete, it’s still just a rumor, and there isn’t much information yet:

A couple of months back, our trusted source informed us that a Tron reboot with Jared Leto is still in the works with a director search underway. Now, that is not the most significant update I’ve heard. From what I’ve been told, the film is expected to be more of Tron sequel rather than a reboot, and the cast from Tron: Legacy could return. It is unknown at this time if the film will follow the same story as the canceled third Tron film, Tron: Ascension, which would have seen the machine world of The Grid invade the real world. That was also rumored to have featured a character called Ares.

Another question we are constantly asked is, will Daft Punk return to do the music? Daft Punk’s score was a highlight from Legacy, with their futuristic/electronic musical style helped bring the world to life.

If we would get a third film it wouldn’t be a reboot, which would be great because I think we are all getting a bit tired of Hollywood’s constant reboots and remakes. I do enjoy the original idea of the third film synopsis where the worlds crossover. It makes sense that if it can go one way it could go the other way as well. But right now we don’t know much of anything, just that it’s supposedly “in development” and it might star Jared Leto, which, if I’m being honest, I’m not 100% sold on.

I do hope that we are finally getting a third Tron film. I grew up on the original and I still love that movie. If a third one came out I would definitely go to see it, even if it starred Jared Leto.
