Rumor: Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party To Be Canceled

So I have yet another big rumor today. Again, it’s a rumor and nothing has been confirmed, but it does go along with what we’ve been hearing. I know before they canceled Mickey’s Not So Scary Halloween Party, a travel agency (who’s name escapes me right now) had been telling their people that both Mickey’s Not So Scary Halloween Party and Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Parade were going to be canceled. Not long after there was an announcement about the Halloween event.

I don’t think this would surprise many as we don’t know what’s going to happen and it seems that amusement parks are planning for coronavirus pandemic changes for the long haul. Recently runDisney just canceled their Wine & Dine in parks run and made it virtual instead. Those events were to take place November 5-8 which would have been around the time the Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party would have started.

The rumor has again appeared on the WDWMagic Forums (make sure you join and follow if you haven’t already, there’s a wealth of knowledge there and I recommend the site.)

According to poster MansionButler84 the event has been canceled:

In what is sure to surprise only Bob Iger, the parks are no longer planning to host MVMCP this year. Folks tired of party season are getting their wishes.

Again this is a rumor, but I think most of us fully expect this to happen. I think we would be happily surprised if it didn’t happen.

If it’s true, I don’t know when we will get an official announcement for it. It might not be until after the Q3 earnings call as I think Disney is going to be facing plenty of disappointment. More cancellations or changes would likely hit the stocks again. They likely aren’t going to want to do that until after the meeting to avoid further excuses. But being fair, this pandemic was something that was far beyond their control. Canceling for safety is understandable. What isn’t understandable was how much money they blew through buying Fox or how much they lost in other areas due to mishandling of franchises and other things. For that, they will be held accountable.

At the end of the day, it’s still a rumor, a likely rumor, but a rumor none the less. I’m still hoping that it’s not true because I really wanted to go, but if I’m being honest, I think it’s true.

What do you think? Comment and let us know.
