With SONY bringing in over $1.6 Billion at the Box Office thanks to Spider-Man: No Way Home and with there being much anticipation for the upcoming Morbius spinoff releasing this April they seem to be moving ahead with their plans for more spinoff films and sequels. One of the rumored characters seems to be one that not many people thought would get a solo film let alone have ever heard of.
In 2019 SONY announced plans for various spinoff films such as Black Cat, Nightwatch, Silk, Silver Sable and multiple others, but one name that was tossed in the ring was Madame Web.Â
According to well known Hollywood Insider Charles Murphy, SONY is seemingly planning on beginning production of the Madame Web film later this:
Also sounds like Sony is planning to get Madame Web going this year. Have a location but no dates yet. I'll update when I have all the details.

Now for those of you who don’t know Madame Web she is a character from the Spider-Man universe who is a medium and acts and an ally/mentor to Peter Parker. She is paralyzed and blind but is able to see into the minds of others and communicate telepathically, rivaling that of the Beyonder.
She first appeared in The Amazing Spider-Man #210 in September of 1980, though many remember her from her appearance in the 1994 Spider-Man Animated Series where she was voiced by Joan Lee (Wife of Stan Lee).Â
She also appeared in the Ultimate Spider-Man animated series albeit much younger and physically able.
It is somewhat of an odd choice to chose Madame Web as the first solo female lead Spider-Man spinoff when you have Black Cat, Silver Sable or Jackpot.Â
What about the various Spider-Women like Jessica Drew, Julia Carpenter, Mattie Franklin or Charlotte Witter? Or other web slinging gals like Spider-Gwen or Silk? But perhaps SONY wants to play with people’s expectations.
As of right now we still don’t have a cast or release date.Â
Hopefully SONY won’t rush their Spider-Man Shared Universe like last time. We all remember what happened there.
