File this under rumor but the Disney blog Chip and Co. has posted that they “have it on good authority” that the upcoming Disney Play Pavilion in EPCOT will open on July 5, 2021.
This isn’t really surprising since they have been saying “Summer 2021” and they are just retheming the inside of a a building.
For those that don’t know the Disney Play Pavilion is coming to old Wonders of Life pavilion and will be an “innovative city” that will feature “interactive experiences” and “hands-on activities.” Honestly, it kind of just sounds like a more impressive and advanced Communicore or Innoventions.
Disney announced the upcoming pavilion back in 2019 to coincide with the 50th Anniversary of Walt Disney World:
“This innovative, new pavilion is beyond anything we’ve ever created and is completely unique to Epcot. Built on the power of play, it introduces an immersive and interactive ‘city’ where you can explore, create, and interact with some of your favorite Disney characters. This is an experience worthy of our bold vision for Epcot – and another signature element of our transformation.” – Zach Riddley, portfolio executive, Walt Disney Imagineering.
The rumor is for the date as we already knew it would be summer. No official confirmation has come from Disney, but it sounds very plausible.
