Rise of the Resistance has finally opened on the West Coast.
But unfortunately, some of the problems that plague the Walt Disney World version seem to be plaguing the Disneyland version right out of the gate.
The new Star Wars ride brought massive crowds, and Boarding Passes were gone within minutes, according to Twitter.
Okay so Rise of the Resistance open today to the public at the Disneyland Resort. In order to ride the new attraction, you will need to get a boarding pass through the Disneyland app. We opened the park at 8am and we ran out of the passes at 8:03am. In only 3 minutes we ran out.

And many guests were not amused. Especially since lines began forming around 2:00 a.m.

Boarding passes are gone for Rise of the Resistance at Disneyland. Mixed reactions as some guests receive boarding passes, and other leaving without one. This is the nature of a ride with so much hype on opening day and the risk taken #Disneyland #RiseOfTheResistance pic.twitter.com/gasBuwwCTH

And then the ride decides to go East Coast and break down around 9:55 a.m. It remained down for approximately an hour, according to reports.
Due to “First Order Activity”, the ride has stopped right now, so we are in line just hanging out and waiting. #RiseOfTheResistance pic.twitter.com/mSJWz1mQJD

Naturally, some people were unhappy. And there’s a lot of tweets about waiting. And waiting. And waiting…

But The Force was unusually strong with some folks…
I’m seeing all the videos of people who were at Disneyland at 3:00 am this morning. I hope they got a boarding pass to Rise of the Resistance. We walked into the Park at 7:35 & got a pass immediately at 8:00. @Eddieonfox <~~the Force is strong with this one #RiseOfTheResistance pic.twitter.com/XCI7HKAeDq

Yikes!
It’s clear that the ride system may have some initial bumps to smooth out. But here’s hoping that Disney has learned from similar incidents in Hollywood Studios and is able to get the ride back up and running at a faster pace.
Rise of the Resistance will basically make or break Galaxy’s Edge in Disneyland at this point, and they can’t afford the bad look of having it break down every other day.
Check out this ride through video below to compare Disneyland’s version of Rise of the Resistance to Walt Disney World’s version…
If you’re going to attempt to ride Rise of the Resistance this weekend, all I can say is… may the Force be with you!
