Review: Tofu Ramen at Comic Strip Café Review

Even though the menu change happened back in 2021, many guests do not realize ramen bowls exist at Comic Strip Café. I know ramen within the Toon Lagoon area makes a strange combination. In a previous article, I reviewed the pork belly version of ramen bowls previously. Comic Strip Café offers a beef version and a tofu version also. The tofu version meets vegan dining requirements.

The “Tofu Ramen” costs $12.99. The menu describes this dish as tofu vegan ramen with a miso broth, edamame dumpling, bean sprouts, scallions, and cilantro. Guests may pay $3 more for an egg roll to make it a combo. I would suggest skipping the below average quality egg roll.

The best way to describe people’s experience with this ramen bowl is: It’s Complicated!” In addition to my experience, I have reports from people who loved this to people who hated it. I will endeavor to simplify the pros and cons of this tofu ramen, if possible. As a result, I will be using the term “most guests” often to show the majority opinion when possible. Okay, now that I have tried to explain the parameters, how is this tofu ramen bowl?

First, even if you dislike this entrée, you must admit ramen in a theme park ranks as a huge step up. Standard theme park cuisines get old when it is just pizza and burgers all the time. Universal Orlando should get some credit for non-traditional theme park food.

Second, most guests found the seasoning of the tofu to be just okay. If you have any texture issues with tofu, then consider those before ordering this.

Next, most guests found the broth flavor good for theme park ramen. However, this miso style broth pales in comparison to ramen places near Universal Orlando property. Please note that the broth used for the vegan bowl tastes different then for pork or beef bowl. I suggest the vegan broth tastes slightly better.

Regarding the noodles, most guests found these noodles less enjoyable compared to noodles for beef/pork bowl. The noodle flavor lacks something. I suspect these noodles demand better preparation so your experience may vary widely.

Most guests really enjoyed the taste of the edamame. In my research, this part of the bowl provides the most satisfaction among diners.

In contrast, most guests disliked the dumpling. Yet, the flavor of the dumpling compliments the rest of the ramen. Still, the texture feels too hard to enjoy. If it spent more time in broth, then it might soften up for a better dining experience.

This tofu bowl might be a great choice for you. Of course, it might be disappointing. I have given you as much information as possible for you to make a good choice. Once again, whatever you think of this menu item, you should agree that good step up in terms of them park food. The $13 price also offers good value for theme park food.

As always, eat like you mean it!
