During our private RIP tour of Halloween Horror Nights (HHN) , we enjoyed the Beetlejuice house first. This was the warm-up for the night in terms of houses. The next house to enter was The Haunting of Hill House. This was selected by our group due to the close proximity to the Beetlejuice house. Our excellent tour guide Jim walked us through all the queue area to eventually got to The Haunting of Hill House.

Before entering each house, Jim would give us commercial about the house we were about to go through. This house is based on the Netflix series. My spouse and I watched this series before attending HHN and we enjoyed it. However, I was concerned that Universal Creative would not be able to create some of the needed scenes for this house to be authentic to the Netflix series. My fears of a disappointing house were unmerited and the Universal Creative team was successful in creating fabulous sets that did the Netflix series justice.

This house was aesthetically pleasing. As one person in our party said, this was what a haunted house should be with darkness and scary sets. The term creepy was used often to describe this house.

If you are familiar with the series, then the moments you expect from the show will be there. There is an excellent façade and well-done lightning effects at the beginning that add so much. You should also beware of broken glass. The expected scary characters appear. One may stand tall and the other might drop in to say hello. The effects are well done and the set design is easily movie quality in this house.

This house seemed longer than most houses in good but scary way. The longer dark hallways added to the feel of being in the actual Hill House. The voice effects in those hallways were excellent and equal in quality to the Netflix show. The finale portion was well done. The frightful part of that got a few of my group. They thought the house was over seeing the exit sign but found out to not mess with the hat.

I have heard no one disliking this house. People who had seen the Netflix series and the follow-up series enjoyed it. People, in my group, who had not seen the series liked this house as well. I would suggest seeing the Netflix show before going, but it’s not required so if you are unable to watch it, this is still a great house.
