Review Of Lombard’s Fish And Chips At Universal Studios Florida

In the San Francisco area of Universal Studios Florida there is a full-service restaurant called Lombard’s Seafood Grille. This is one of two full-service restaurants within Universal Studios Florida theme park.

At Universal Orlando, they use the term full-service for all table service restaurants. On Universal Orlando’s own website, they describe Lombard’s as “Universal Studios’ flagship restaurant, this waterfront establishment has been charming customers with its delicious food, friendly service, and nautical atmosphere since the park first opened. Seafood is Lombard’s specialty with fresh favorites like clam chowder. If you prefer turf to surf, there’s also burgers, sandwiches, salads and more.

To the credit of this place, there are numerous intriguing sounding seafood dishes. The interior is nice with a good view of the lagoon from almost any seat.

As you may know, I visited this place in September for lunch, and my experience was average.

During this lunch, a friend ordered the Fish and Chips. The menu describes that entrée as sustainable fresh wild Alaskan cod lightly fried in seasoned batter, crispy French fries, and creamy tartar sauce. This item also comes with a side of coleslaw.

The price is $19 before discounts.

Like my personal experience in September, they experienced slow service and they also experienced cold fries. This was probably from a 25-minute wait to get entrees.

They said the coleslaw was “not great” either. There was also the 18% gratuity added automatically since we were a party of eight.

Now regarding the fish, they said the fish was good. Still, they expected better quality at the seafood place. You can get fish and chips at various locations at Universal Orlando such as both Wizarding World quick service locations, Finnegan’s, and Bubba Gump’s Shrimp Company to name a few. My friend said he preferred the fish and chips at Finnegan’s over the Lombard’s version.

My personal rule is that if I can’t give an item a full taste test, I make sure I have at least four reputable sources on a menu item before writing a review.

My friends made three. I had a colleague dine at Lombard’s last week, so I now feel confident in this review. They said that fish was good but not great. I asked if Finnegan’s was better, and they said yes. For record, they experienced casual service and gentle speed of service. Their fries were cold also for example.

In my opinion, this place has not done well lately. I respect that food service is very tough right now. However, with CityWalk so close and Finnegan’s literally in same theme park, there are better options.

Finishing on a positive note, even when this place is more crowded, it is a quieter atmosphere than other dining options mentioned in this review. There is great value in low noise level during a theme park day. A quiet hour or two might be worth it for your group.
