Review of “it’s a small world” Holiday at Disneyland Resort

I know the holidays are over, retailers are pushing Valentine’s Day, and you’ve put away your Christmas tree. However, at Disneyland Resort until January 24th, you can still live the magic of Christmastime with “it’s a small world” Holiday.

Disneyland is great with the holiday overlays specifically for Christmas with Haunted Mansion Holiday and “It’s A Small World” Holiday. I really wish that Walt Disney World would join Disneyland in the holiday overlays because they truly add to the magic of the season at the Disney Parks. I know I’m not alone in this thought, so perhaps we need to start begging for Holiday overlays at Walt Disney World. Twitter begging anyone?

However, I digress. Wishful thinking.

“It’s A Small World” Holiday is quite a spectacle. The entire building is intricately designed with Christmas lights including the smaller towers surrounding the attraction. The stunning display is worth staying until nightfall to see. The topiaries and bushes near the attraction also are lit up for the season. The sounds of the season abound in the area as well.

When you enter the attraction, on the boat, you are greeted by the same young children holding balloons but with a Christmas theme. Going through the attraction, each culture’s rendition of the season is celebrated with signage and items that are associated with Christmas in that culture. Despite it being really beautiful, one can even learn about new cultures from around the world.

Santa is depicted several times during the attraction. A llama is even seen holding a naughty or nice list.

“Jingle Bells” and “Deck the Halls” are the two prevalent Christmas songs sung throughout the ride. However, for those desiring the norm, the children also sing “It’s a Small World.”

I was thoroughly impressed and amazed by this amazing transformation. My daughter and rode the attraction twice when we visited because we wanted to make sure to see all the changes that were made.

I highly recommend seeing “It’s A Small World” Holiday when it becomes available again. It’s beautiful and a great way to bring in the season.

Note: “It’s A Small World” Holiday will close on January 24th, and it will reopen as “It’s A Small World” again on February 3rd as per the Disneyland website.
