Review of Gnocchi Bolognese at Mythos Restaurant

Mythos is a highly rated theme park restaurant at Islands of Adventure. This well themed place is in what many people simply consider an area to walk through to get to Hogsmeade. Though the quality of this restaurant has been over-hyped, this is still a very nice sit-down theme park restaurant. The prices have increased at Mythos over last few months, it is still lower in price to comparable quality of restaurants at Walt Disney World Resort.

Many of my theme park friend group love Mythos. It is required stop at least once per trip.

I have probably tasted everything currently on the menu at Mythos. On a recent trip, I decided to get something outside my norm. I ordered the Gnocchi Bolognese. This entrée costs $19 which may be a little much for a theme park full-service lunch. You will have to decide that for full-service dining.

The Gnocchi Bolognese is the type of entrée that you will want to request bread for. Mythos used to provide bread and butter. Now, this is only by request.

The gnocchi are combined with slow simmered beef, tomato sauce, cream, and some parmesan wafers to cap it off. This sounds like a relatively simple dish. It probably is a simple dish. However, it is prepared well.

The gnocchi were pillowy goodness as they are supposed to be. These tiny dumplings went so well with the tomato sauce. I am not an expert on different red sauces, but this sauce did not taste like it came out of a can or jar. I do not even care if it did because the sauce was wonderful when combined with gnocchi, or when coating the tableside bread, we requested.

The beef added to the experience nicely. I usually think of gnocchi being something you have in more of a vegetarian style dish. Yet, the flavor combinations with potato and beef were satisfying. I am not sure a meat and potatoes person would order this. However, if they did, they would most likely enjoy it.

Mythos has so many signature dishes that this item can easily be overlooked. The portion size was okay but lately the portion sizes have been shrinking at Mythos. Hopefully in future reviews about this location, I can literally show you some examples of that.

Mythos is not the best theme park restaurant even in the Orlando area. However, there are no bad choices on menu. The overall price point for this quality of food is low compared to other area theme parks.

It can be argued that Mythos is the best overall restaurant in terms of quality and value. On your trip to Universal Orlando, you can dine here and enjoy the magnificent surrounding at Mythos to see what I mean.
