I have a confession (and an apology) for this article. After I finished all my typing involved with my day job, I looked through theme park articles in my writing queue. I found myself finding a food review to finish from Toothsome Chocolate Emporium and Savory Feast Kitchen. Of course, about that same time, my spouse sent me photos of her meal at Toothsome. My spouse, as of time of writing, can be found enjoying a weeklong trip to Universal Orlando. As a result, I confess a bit of jealousy seeing her photos.

The food review next in my writing queue revolves around the “Chicken Cordon Bleu” sandwich. In April 2022, I enjoyed this sandwich for the first time recently. Now, I have edited other people’s reviews of this sandwich in the past. Thus, I knew what to expect, good and bad. This sandwich cost $15.95. As usual, the burger/sandwich entrées at Universal Orlando make good value compared to other table service dining in Orlando/Lake Buena Vista area. The menu description reads buttermilk fried chicken breast stuffed with sliced ham and Swiss cheese over fresh spinach and fontina mornay. To complete this sandwich, they use a brioche bun.

So, how was this sandwich?

This sandwich will not compete with Art Smith’s Homecomin’ over at Disney Springs. Of course, that makes an unfair comparison. However, the appearance and texture of the Toothsome sandwich gets high marks. The chicken tastes well prepared. Also, the chicken portion exceeds normal standards for portion size and quality. The breading matches well with the sliced ham. The two different types of cheese add solid flavor. The overall flavor combination makes this a good value for full-service dining.

However, the texture of the fontina mornay might throw off some people’s taste buds. Still, the fontina mornay brings good flavor. Sadly, the fries that came with this sandwich tasted simply average.

For basically $16 before discounts (I paid less than that with annual pass discount and tax) for this sandwich and fries deserves dining consideration. The taste and value shines with this menu item.  Toothsome offers many great savory menu items like this one. Remember to save room for one of their decadent desserts.

As always, eat like you mean it!
