Again, I’ll dream and muse about how once you drive under the Walt Disney World sign, calories don’t count. We can live in a dream world where this is actually fact and enjoy our foodie dreams when we visit Walt Disney World.

If you want to truly enjoy a delicious meal within the parameters of Wat Disney World, please look no further than Chef Art Smith’s Homecomin’ at Disney Springs. This eatery prides itself on it Southern cooking, and it does not disappoint.

I highly recommend getting reservations ahead of time for Homecomin’ as walk ups are limited. I have heard people getting walk up reservations day of, but to make sure that you are able to dine at Homecomin’ – advanced reservations are the way to go.

A good friend of mine and I met for dinner on a Saturday, and I was able to get reservations a couple days prior. Perhaps it was a cancellation or a new opening, I didn’t mind because at 5:10pm I was destined to dine.

We were seated outside on the patio with the ability to people watch the  tourists and visitors while dining. We are avid people watchers and the temperature wasn’t horrendous, so this was a welcome seating arrangement.

My friend and I decided to fully indulge and go for appetizer, entrée, and dessert. We needed to fully experience this restaurant and see all it had to offer.

Our server was very genial and worked us through the menu where we had questions. We eventually decided on the Fried Green Tomatoes as an appetizer.

I love Fried Green Tomatoes, and these did not disappoint. They were covered in a rémoulade sauce and shaved ham atop a bed of local greens. I wish that I could eat more of these everyday because they were delicious. I am not a huge fan of ham, but the combination of all lead to a delightful starter to our meal. My friend had eaten there before, and she loved their Deviled Eggs. I, however, am not a fan of deviled eggs. We went with the Bee Haven Bay Fried Green Tomatoes, and I suggest that you add this on your next trip to Homecomin’.

Famous Fried Chicken Dinner at Art Smith’s Homecomin’

For dinner, I went with the Art’s Famous Fried Chicken which came with buttermilk-brined fried chicken served with mashed potatoes, and a cheddar drop biscuit. It is also said to be made with love on the website. I can tell you that I tasted the love in the meal. The chicken was perfectly fried, the mashed potatoes were creamy, and the biscuit was delicious. I didn’t finish all the chicken as there were several pieces, and I also knew I needed to leave room for dessert. My friend had the Shrimp and Grits meal that came with shrimp, tomato gravy, ham, and grits. She also enjoyed this meal, but she didn’t finish it waiting for dessert. There are a plethora of menu options for dinner that include even a plate of sides for a vegetarian.  They offer a Country-Fried Steak, Char-Grilled Chicken, Fried Catfish, Pork Barbecue, Short Ribs, and Fried Chicken and Doughnuts.

For dessert, we had a hard time choosing due to the amazing amount of delectable options available, but we eventually went with the Hummingbird Cake as it was highly recommended online. I have previously reviewed this dessert. Just know, you have to save room for the Hummingbird Cake. It’s delicious!

Overall, I highly recommend eating at Chef Art Smith’s Homecomin’ at Disney Springs. Getting a reservation for this restaurant is highly recommended as walk-ups are limited. Do yourself a favor and add Homecomin’ to your lineup for eateries on your Disney vacation. You are sure to not be disappointed.
