Something magical happens when you enter Diagon Alley area of Universal Studios Florida theme park. Sure, the theming and set design for this Wizarding World area rates as exquisite. Yes, this area of the park functions on the illusion of magic of witches and wizards. However, that magical idea is not what I am referring to.
Many times, I walked into Diagon Alley area around 9:30am seeing an extended queue for many things. Of course, the Escape from Gringotts attraction will develop a long queue. Depending on time of year, the queue for Ollivander’s wand show can grow lengthy. Even a wait can develop for the Leaky Cauldron for breakfast depending on time of year. Those all make sense based on common theme park crowd patterns. However, one queue in Diagon Alley bucks the trend for breakfast time. The queue for ice cream at Florean Fortescue’s Ice Cream Parlor often surprises guests. Depending on the time of day, the wait for ice cream exceeds 25 minutes.
In fairness, the quality of this ice cream is the magic I was referring to earlier. Even as a 100% Muggle, I can see the magic of the creation process for this ice cream. Once again, even as a Muggle, I love butterbeer ice cream.
What if you want some butterbeer soft serve ice cream but do not want to wait for a long time? I offer a suggestion. Next door to Florean Fortescue’s, guests will find The Fountain of Fair Fortune. The Fountain of Fair Fortune primarily sells Wizarding World beverages. However, you can also get a large scoop of butterbeer ice cream from here.
The procedure works very simply. You wait in an almost always shorter queue than Florean Fortescue’s. Even though the ice cream will not be seen on menus there, ask for it. A team member will walk through a back door to Florean Fortescue’s and return with a scoop of soft serve butterbeer ice cream.
Now, you can only get butterbeer ice cream. So, if you want one of the other excellent flavors at Florean Fortescue’s, you cannot avoid that queue. Your butter ice cream will come in a cup not a cone. You will get less ice cream than at Florean Fortescue’s though. Of course, you will pay less also.
In wait time testing, you can usually get through queue at Fountain of Fair Fortune three times before someone gets though queue at Florean Fortescue’s. If your goal is to enjoy the magic of soft serve butterbeer ice cream, always check the queue length at Fountain of Fair Fortune first.
One disclaimer, this procedure could change at any moment. Still, I have never visited there in which I was unable to get my cup of butterbeer ice cream. Good luck to you all.
As always, eat like you mean it!
