Prep & Landing Returning Christmas 2025 After Fourteen Years

The world of Disney Television Animation is getting ready to celebrate its 40th anniversary with a lineup of brand new television shows and specials aimed at both younger children with Disney Junior and older children with Disney Channel and Disney XD.

Ayo Davis, the President of Disney Branded Television, made the following statement in regard to their upcoming programming at the Annecy International Animation Film Festival in Annecy, France:

Disney Branded Television is proud of our four-decade legacy of creating magical and visually stunning animation beloved by young audiences around the world. It’s a momentous year at Annecy, as we celebrate our studio’s milestone anniversary and showcase some of our most exciting new projects and creative talent that are ushering us into a new era of storytelling.

They spoke about upcoming programming for younger children at Disney Jr., including SuperKitties: Su-Purr Adventures, Disney Junior’s Ariel, Season 2 of Star Wars: Young Jedi Adventures, and Kindergarten: The Musical. Other shows for older kids include The Doomies and a fifth season of Big City Greens. There is also the upcoming revival of Phineas and Ferb with a fifth season and even a potential revival of Gravity Falls

But one announcement was rather unexpected: the return of the annual Prep & Landing Christmas Shorts. Titled Prep & Landing: Snowball Protocol, the 22-minute short will be the first time we revisit our favorite Christmas elves after all these years.

In this new installment of the Emmy-winning holiday specials, the high-tech team of elves from the elite unit known as Prep and Landing is back! When their holiday missions go awry, Wayne thinks he is in BIG trouble with Santa, which opens a vault of merry mishaps from the past. It’s going to be hard to dig their way out of the snowbank this time in Prep & Landing: The Snowball Protocol. The special will debut next year.

The special will be released in 2025, and former writers Kevin Deters and Stevie Wermers-Skelton are set to produce it. Many fans of the shorts were worried that we may never see these characters again due to comparisons with 2012’s Arthur Christmas.

Are you excited to see Wayne and Lanny back in action and saving the holidays for all the good children of the world? Let us know.
