Disney and Lucasfilm have gone out of their way to remove themselves from the original Star Wars films, except when they want to actually make money on merchandise. Now they can’t even wish George Lucas a Happy 77th Birthday on the official Star Wars Twitter.
Some people claim they stopped doing the birthday wishes on Twitter because they got “called out” for neglecting to wish some actors “Happy Birthday” and by that I mean the backlash they faced when they didn’t bother offering birthday wishes to classic Star Wars actor James Earl Jones and ‘The Mandalorian’ actor Carl Weathers. They were reminded by the fans repeatedly and refused to correct the “oversight.”
Meanwhile the Star Wars UK account didn’t wish Lucas a “Happy Birthday” either but they wished Domhnall Gleeson one a couple of days prior.

He’s not just an actor in the franchise, he literally created it.
Apparently they did put something up on the Star Wars Instagram, BUT they put it up in stories and NOT as a post. When something is in “stories” it disappears after a certain amount of time. Why do that? At this point it feels intentional and petty, and fans see it.

Now they didn’t bother to wish George Lucas a “Happy Birthday” on his 77th Birthday on Twitter. It’s not only relevant as he created Star Wars, but it was his 77th Birthday and the original film was released in 1977.
Not to mentoin that Disney has been trying to cash in on 50 years of LUCASfilm, named after the man who started it all.
They have no problem using his name or work to cash in but they can’t even acknowledge him on his birthday.
In celebration of 50 years of Lucasfilm, every copy of the summer issue of @DisneyD23 “Disney twenty-three” will include an exclusive poster made up of one-sheets from Lucasfilm releases around the world – how many have you seen?

They didn’t forget to post advertisements for ‘The Bad Batch’ after coming under fire for “white-washing” characters though.
Fans did notice. Heck, I called it out that morning.
We taking bets on if the Star Wars Twitter wishes George Lucas a ‘Happy Birthday’
I’m hoping they do.

If Disney and Lucasfilm are going to act this way towards George Lucas, how long till they decide Walt Disney shouldn’t be mentioned on his birthday either?
Other stand up people did remember to wish Mr. Lucas a “Happy Birthday” aside from the many fans.
ILM did.

SHOUT OUT to #GeorgeLucas for no particular reason other than his incomparable contribution to pop-culture, remaining a genuinely nice person & for branding me forever as “a little short for a Stormtrooper.” 🙄 pic.twitter.com/ONwkxpLshc

It’s just incredibly sad that a company can’t give credit where it’s due, but use the same person’s work for their own gain.
The more you tighten your grip, the more fans will slip through your fingers.
Be better.
