Over last few months, the chefs at Universal Orlando have created many new vegan menu items. For example, for Mardi Gras 2022, an entire vegan food tent, even with a plant-based façade, was designed. One of the areas of Universal Orlando dining failing to offer good vegan options is within the Wizarding World areas. The Universal Orlando chefs remedied that issue at both Wizarding World quick service options recently.

For example, a “Jackfruit & Mushroom Pie Platter” fulfills the quality vegan option at The Three Broomsticks. This item costs $15.99. Also, this menu item meets vegan dietary standards.

This entrée looks like a pot pie. However, this menu item does come with a decent salad for quick service style dining. The side salad contains cucumbers and tomatoes. Though the menu states salad contains radishes, most people failed to find very much. The lemon vinaigrette dressing adds some flavor. Still, many guests report dislike of the dressing flavor and quality. The dressing with this salad ranks as average but Universal chefs should get credit for a vegan dressing.

The pot pie looking portion really contains a jackfruit and mushroom type of stew. A pastry crust sits on top of the stew creating the pot pie look. The pastry top makes a good pairing for this stew like bread with soup. In fairness, some people found this pastry top tasted best of everything in this excellent vegan item. The stew holds up to being good quality all by itself though. One complaint about the stew involves the large pieces of jackfruit usually found in the stew. Of course, Universal Orlando tends to leave large pieces of lettuce in the Wizarding World salads also.

I think better vegan options exist at Universal Orlando. Yet, this vegan dish makes a gigantic step up in terms of taste compared to previous limited vegan options here.

As always, eat like you mean it!
