New Savannah Guthrie Sandwich at the Today Café Universal Studios Florida

Personally, I have never been famous enough to have a sandwich named after me. However, if I was, I do not think avocado and sausage would be a part of my special sandwich. Of course, I do not work for NBC on The Today Show. However, Savannah Guthrie does work for NBC. For the record, she selected sausage and avocado.

Apparently, representatives of Universal Orlando asked her what sandwich her dream choice would be. After some thinking, she gave them an answer. She described the process a little on The Today Show on June 6th, 2022. In fact, she had some co-hosts try this sandwich. In a touch of NBCUniversal synergy, June 6th serves as first day this sandwich was available for purchased at The Today Café in Universal Studios Florida.

The title of this sandwich is Savannah’s Dream Breakfast Croissant. Like many other “breakfast” sandwiches at The Today Café, guests can purchase this all day. The final form of this sandwich includes sausage, egg, cheese, smashed avocado, and Divina tomatoes on an everything bagel seasoned croissant. Guests receive a side of fruit also. This sandwich costs $9.99 before any annual pass discounts. Savannah Guthrie admitted to not even knowing what a Divina tomato was, but said she liked the taste. The Today Show on-screen talent appeared to enjoy the sandwiches. You can see that in the video that can be seen on The Today Show’s website.

As of time of writing, I have spoken with two people who have tried this sandwich on its opening day. One of my go-to sources, Xavier of Universal Food Blog, ordered it. In fairness, neither of us do not like avocado. He said that the avocado did not take away from the positive flavor of the sandwich though. However, the portion size in real life looks a bit smaller than in The Today Show promo photo. Yet, the egg and sausage portions are large for a theme park sandwich under $10. Both of my sources stated they would order this sandwich again. Though I have a concern about the potential mess factor. I suggest getting a few extra napkins. In addition, the idea of an everything style croissant concerned me. I felt it might overwhelm the rest of sandwich. Initial reports indicate that concern was invalid.

I will endeavor to do more research on this sandwich. Yet, it sounds like it will make a “Top 3” article soon. As always, eat like you mean it!
