New RunDisney Rival Run Weekend ‘Star Wars’ Jerseys Now on Shop Disney

This year the Star Wars Rival Run Weekend was cancelled due to the COVID-19 issue but now you can still get your Spirit Jersey fix on Shop Disney!

The Rival Run Weekend is a fun event because you get to choose if you want to “Run for the Empire” or “Run with the Force.” Normally there is a jersey for each but this time there are three different ones to choose from!

Run for the Empire – $69.99

The sizes are XS-XXL

Not surprising, the characters are prequel and original trilogy on this. Featuring Darth Vader, Stormtrooper, and Darth Maul.

Run with the Force – $69.99

Again going with the classic films here. But what I find even more interesting is that instead of Luke Skywalker they used Leia. Disney, to me, feels like it’s gone out of their way to remove and lessen Luke Skywalker and now they have a Spirit Jersey, about “Running with the Force” and they use Leia and Yoda. Heck they could have used Luke with his Yoda backpack.

I get Leia has force powers too, but she isn’t who you think of when someone says “Use the Force.” They clearly didn’t want to use the new trilogy characters, as it hasn’t gone as they had forseen, hence all the classic trilogy merchandise we keep getting instead. But to make sure not to use Luke they used Leia. Don’t get me wrong, I am a Leia fan through and through, but if they are going for Classic Star Wars in this line, Luke would have been the accurate choice.

Well I am not buying this one for sure.

Follow the Dark Side – $69.99

If Stormtroopers are more your style, there is also a jersey featuring them. So this year we had two jerseys for the Dark Side and one for the Jedi.

You can find them on ShopDisney via the links I have provided.
