Darth Vader is putting in an appearance on the upcoming Disney+ series Obi-Wan. Because of course he is.

A new trailer dropped today (May the 4th), and it confirmed what had been rumored for quite awhile — Darth Vader is making a return. While we knew Hayden Christensen was involved, we didn’t know how much of his screen time would be in flashbacks as Anakin Skywalker during the Clone Wars.

It’s unclear how much Vader we’ll actually see, or if that rumored throwdown between Obi-Wan and Vader will take place. But it’s clear that Disney is pulling out all the stops to win back old school Star Wars fans with lots of nostalgia bait.

Speaking of nostalgia bait, eagle-eyed Star Wars fans will catch a few cameos from some familiar faces, including what appears to be bounty hunter 4-LOM (the bounty hunter known to 80s kids as “Zuckuss.”)

While it’s exciting to see Ewan McGregor return to his role as Obi-Wan after all these years, only time will tell if this series is another Mandalorian… or a Book of Boba Fett.

Official Synopsis:

The story begins 10 years after the dramatic events of “Star Wars: Revenge of the Sith” where Obi-Wan Kenobi faced his greatest defeat—the downfall and corruption of his best friend and Jedi apprentice, Anakin Skywalker, who turned to the dark side as evil Sith Lord Darth Vader.

The series stars Ewan McGregor, reprising his role as the iconic Jedi Master, and also marks the return of Hayden Christensen in the role of Darth Vader. Joining the cast are Moses Ingram, Joel Edgerton, Bonnie Piesse, Kumail Nanjiani, Indira Varma, Rupert Friend, O’Shea Jackson Jr., Sung Kang, Simone Kessell and Benny Safdie.

“Obi-Wan Kenobi” is directed by Deborah Chow and executive-produced by Kathleen Kennedy, Michelle Rejwan, Deborah Chow, Ewan McGregor and Joby Harold.
