The Jurassic World Velocicoaster continues to receive high praise from theme park visitors. Guests glowingly talk about the locker system, the themed queue, and the excellent elements during the ride. Oh, of course, people praise the thrills of this coaster.
Originally, this coaster would have opened when the third installment of the Jurassic World movie trilogy appeared in movie theatres. With cultural conditions changing movie release dates, Jurassic World Dominion had the premier dates moved back to summer 2022. Based on some rumors of promotions to come and merchandise arriving at Universal Orlando, the hunt for promoting the movie is on!
Though the balance between Jurassic Park theming and Jurassic World theming continues at Islands of Adventure, the merchandise options persist in improving. Jurassic merchandise has been around all along, but many new additions lead to some conclusions about the upcoming movie.
In several merchandise shops, guests can buy some new styled bags. These bags present a solid theming for dinosaur enthusiasts. So far, based on guest reports, the quality offered by these bags is high.
Also, a new style cardholder/wallet appears in shops at Universal Orlando. The signature raptor claw slash marks feature prominently on these.
Also, A significant number of new branded shirts arrived in the last few weeks. Any Jurassic Park/Jurassic World fan will appreciate these. Those of us who are sticklers to proper branding still find it odd that Universal Orlando still markets Jurassic Park/World as Universal Studios. I know this goes back to a licensing contract. However, you would think Universal Orlando’s team in charge of marketing would have gotten past this by now. Of course, this is Universal Orlando’s part in reason so many people call the place “Universal Studios Orlando.” In case you do not know, there is no such place as Universal Studios Orlando. This term is never used to describe anything on property at Universal Orlando Resort. Oh well, Universal properties in Florida have always struggled with branding (example: Universal Studios Escape).
The most curious piece of newer merchandise involves a dinosaur battle. The “Allosaurus vs. Carno” marketing appears on several items. Having not seen a screening of Jurassic World Dominion yet, I suspect this “battle” appears in the new movie. If not, I cannot connect the dots for reason for this branding. I do not see any direct connection to Universal Orlando otherwise.
I suspect more Jurassic World merchandise will appear. If it appears over the next week or so, I will update it on this site. Thanks for reading.
