New Episodes of “Rolie Polie Olie” Are Being Made For Disney+

According to What’s on Disney+, Disney is having ‘Rolie Polie Olie” creator William Joyce make more episodes of the popular show for Disney+.

I had to cover this because my son loved “Rolie Polie Olie” when he was little. He caught it in the early-mid 2000s, and he adored that show!

Here’s the synopsis for the show according to Wikipedia:

The show focuses on the Polie Family, who live in a teapot-shaped house in a geometric world (Planet Polie) populated by robot-based characters. The stories revolve around a young robot named Olie learning life lessons and going on wacky adventures (either real or imaginative) while growing up.”

William Joyce posted his news on Twitter!

You may not recognize William Joyces name, but you know his work. He wrote the books that became some incredibly popular animated films.

  • “A Day with Wilbur Robinson” which because Disney’s “Meet the Robinsons”
  • “The Guardians of Childhood” series, which became “Rise of the Guardians.”
  • The story for the film “Robot”

What we don’t know is if we are getting the 74, old episodes back in addition to the new ones. What’s on Disney+ also pointed out that while Disney does have the distribution rights to the show for the United States they do not have the international distribution rights. Those are with Nelvana International.

Season One is available for Amazon Prime members currently.

I’m just happy they are making more episodes again. Just a couple of years ago our daughter pulled out the Halloween DVD we had of Episode 21-“Rolie Polie Olie: The Legend of Spookie Ookie/Oooh Scary/Zowie Queen of the Pumpkins.”

She loved it too. They are both older now, but it makes me happy that they are making new ones and with the actual creator too. Anymore it seems that studios want to make “new” episodes or “reboots’ of all the popular shows, but they want to bring in new people and change everything. Here’s hoping these new episodes stay true to the originals!

Just for fun, here’s the intro to the old episodes:
