I grew up with arcades and the original home gaming consoles so I’m extremely excited about the new releases coming out from Arcade1Up.
If you aren’t familiar with the company, they make 3/4 sized gaming cabinets based off the original arcade games. This year they just announced the Atari Star Wars cabinet, a Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles cabinet and a Marvel Super Heroes cabinet (you can read more on those at D-rezzed HERE)

The official press release says “This is the only at-home arcade cabinet that uses the original arcade software and features the X-Wing pilot controller! On this new addition to our line-up, will be the original arcade versions of Star Wars, Empire Strikes Back, and Return of the Jedi!”
The system will have the arcade versions of
- Star Wars
- Empire Strikes Back
- Return of the Jedi
The controller is based on the X-wing pilot controller from the original gaming cabinets.

There is no price released for this one yet. I’m expecting it to be a little more than their normal $299 price simply based on the controller.
A release date has not been announced yet, but several sites mention sometime during the fall!
Keep in mind that assembly is required for these machines. If you’ve seen them in the stores the boxes are taller but not very thick. You need to put them together, but it’s pretty easy and straight forward from what I’ve heard.
Classic Star Wars is something that Disney has seemed to focus on a lot lately. It could be due to the divisiveness of The Last Jedi in the fan community. Focusing on the classics is more of a safe bet anymore. That’s fine with me as I am so exited about this new gaming cabinet!
I just love these! This would make a fantastic gift for this holiday season! Start saving up now!
