Netflix Marvel Shows And Agents of Shield Coming to Disney+ USA With Parental Controls

Last week we posted about the Netflix Marvel shows coming to Disney+ in Canada. Now it appears that both the Netflix Marvel shows and Agents of Shield are heading to Disney+ in the United States as well.

Many were worried that since the Netflix shows were for a more adult audience, due to violence and other adult themes, they would be edited if they came to Disney+. It turns out they are not going to edit these shows for the platform but new parental controls are going to be added.

I have to admit, I honestly thought they would just send them to Hulu.

The shows including: Daredevil, The Punisher, Iron Fist, Jessica Jones, Luke Cage, The Defenders, and Agents of Shield will begin streaming on Disney+ in the United States, Canada, Ireland, the United Kingdom, Australia and New Zealand starting on March 16th.

The shows will be available in all other markets by the end of 2022.

Parental Controls

Starting on March 16th, users will be asked to update their parental controls on Disney+. This will allow users to add Pin numbers to lock down profiles and set rating restrictions for each profile on an account.

To see the new TV-MA options you must update your profile or it will default to the current TV-14 rating, thus restricting you from viewing the new content.

Disney’s President of Disney Streaming, Michael Paull offered this comment on the changes:

“Disney+ has served as the home for some of the most beloved brands in the industry, and the addition of these live-action shows brings more from the Marvel brand together, all in one place. We have experienced great success with an expanded content offering on Disney+ across our global markets and are excited to continue that
here in the U.S. as well by offering our consumers not only great content with the new Marvel additions, but also a set of features that help ensure a viewing experience most suitable for them and their family.”

I guess it’s a good compromise. I know that Bob Chapek has wanted to put more adult content on the service, while Bob Iger seemed to be against that move. Now it seems that since Iger is gone that’s the way they are going to go.

For those that have not watched the Netflix shows I highly recommend them, especially Daredevil. This will also give those who haven’t seen them more backstory on Kingpin/Fisk, who appeared in Hawkeye.

What do you think? Comment and let us know!
