Need A Protocol Droid? A Lifesize C-3PO Is Only $8,500!

If you require a droid that can speak the binary language of moisture vaporators, then Sideshow Collectibles has just what you need. Sideshow has created a lifesize figure of the “heroic” golden protocol droid C-3PO, and he can be all yours for just $8,500.

C-3PO is more of a statue than a “figure,” but he does have some limited functionality. The droid does have articulated arms (only at the shoulder), and his head can rotate from side to side. The droid’s eyes light up, and he is preprogrammed with dialog, but Sideshow does not list what quotes he spits out.

C-3PO’s appearance reflects how he looked after being picked up by Jawas and sold to the Lars’s homestead in Star Wars: A New Hope. He’s not shiny and appears to be in desperate need of an oil bath. The restraining bolt is removable, but you’re stuck with his silver leg.

The protocol droid is constructed from fiberglass and resin. Goldenrod, atop his base, stands 74″ tall. The base measures 23.5″ deep and 28″ wide. The expected ship date for the droid fluent in six million forms of communication (except for a Sith language) is between November 2022 and February 2023.

Goodness gracious me! If your collection needs a protocol droid, look no further than the C-3PO Life-Size Figure. Captured in faithful, realistic detail, this collectible stands 6’2” tall and 28” wide, situated on a Millennium Falcon base with ship flooring and circuitry details. C-3PO’s signature shining gold exterior is detailed with weathering, a silver right leg, and multicolored wiring in the abdomen. His arms are articulated at the shoulder joints and can be rotated to various degrees to change up his posture, from etiquette-ready to a startled pose. The magnetic restraining bolt can even be removed from his torso as an added detail.

Sideshow is no stranger to 1:1 statues. Over the years, the company has produced many true-to-scale figures, including Darth Vader, R2-D2, Boba Fett, and more. I’ve seen a few of these firsthand and found them most impressive, if not a bit lacking when it comes to functionality. Artoo has lights and sounds but no head movement or accessories. You can’t deck the droid out with any of the gadgets it has in the films.

If you’re wondering about how these lifesize figures are shipped and assembled, check out Sideshow’s instructional videos below regarding some of their previous releases:
