NBA Referees Begin March Against Racism at Walt Disney World

Yesterday the Milwaukee Bucks refused to participate in their match against the Orlando Magic and today the NBA Referees held a “March Against Racism” all while being hosted in the Walt Disney World bubble at Disney’s Coronado Springs Resort.

Since news crews were already part of “the bubble” they were on hand to film it.

The NBA Referees had posted they would be doing this on social media:

For those confused by “the bubble” it’s what they are calling the safety net around the NBA at Walt Disney World. Hotels, ESPN, Employees, players, staff and media had to clear testing and quarantines for the safety of everyone involved. Hence the “bubble” name.

It’s unclear yet how all of this is going to impact the playoff games or if this will change the time table that has been set. I’m not sure how an extended time table would impact the plans to reopen resorts to guests moving forward. Right now the players, staff, and media are being housed in certain resorts that are currently closed to guests.

We will have to follow along and see.

Disney has been a big part of my life for years--from family trips to WDW to growing up on Disney classics, TV, and movies. Prior to Pirates and Princesses I successfully ran social media and websites since 2010. I've also been a public speaker and presenter since 2007. I'm the co-host for the YouTube channel Clownfish TV as well as the podcast/ Youtube Pirates and Princesses (PNP) channel. Former contributor, online personality and acting social media manager at The Kingdom Insider (which we built from the ground up and ran from 1997-2019 --Thom didn't quit FYI) Pirates and Princesses was started by my husband and I several years ago. We loved Disney and wanted to honestly cover all aspects from pop-culture to the parks from a consumer focused stance. Living OUR happily ever after getting to do what we love with our two kids! Creating fun content and building new things. Certified art teacher, and mom. Opinions are all mine.
