This year has been hard on a lot of people, but high school seniors were especially hard hit as many proms and graduations were cancelled due to the COVID-19 pandemic. A Maitland, Florida mom, Cyn Sellards, did what she could to make her son Evan’s 18th birthday the best it could be after his graduation ceremony was cancelled.
Cyn Sellards used to work at Universal Orlando, so she got some help from her friends and on Sunday, June 28th, they brought back 1985.
For his birthday the family had a procession of cars, something we’ve all seen in 2020, when having a big party isn’t feasible. But the surprise came when “Marty McFly” and “Jennifer” pulled in with their Back to the Future Delorean and delivered reproduction movie props and the opportunity to take a ride. (No plutonium was used during this event.)
But who were Marty and Jennifer?
They were played by Rob Sims and Kyla Swanberg from CosFX Studios. Sims has been playing the character of Marty Mcfly for over 15 years. Kyla is a costume designer in Orlando.
The reproduction “Back To the Future” Delorean was provided by Elliot Hanson of Florida Time Machine and the vehicle has been driven around Universal Studios Orlando.
I think it’s super sweet and I wanted to share it with you!
Here’s the video they posted of the event!
Well that’s one special way to celebrate a birthday! It’s so cool! Go mom!
