Currently Walt Disney World has been tearing down iconic structures like the Tower of Terror billboard and the popular Welcome entry gate. While they are doing that, they are also getting more done on the upcoming walk-through attraction showcasing Moana.
Thanks to @bioreconstruct on Twitter we have a better look at the progress:
Rock work in Journey of Water is forming with what seem to be multiple passageways.
Black frames at top might be for effects. However, what if this was separate Stand By, Lightning Lane, etc … entrances to Journey of Water? pic.twitter.com/Nmjoah1PAt

I’m not really sure how I feel about this to be honest. I don’t know if this fits in with EPCOT and how it will impact the look and feel of the area. The one positive is that EPCOT is a hot park due to the open and clean concept. This could be a big help in offering some shade and cooling aspects.
It’s one of those things where we will have to wait and see, but one of the great things about EPCOT was it’s clean, futuristic layout. I really hope this new area fits the flow of the area and the aesthetic of the park.
