Marvel’s ‘Hawkeye’ on Disney+ To Be Full of Christmas Spirit While “Passing the Torch”

Marvel’s upcoming ‘Hawkeye’ show will debut on November 24 on Disney+. We’ve just learned that not only is it officially “passing the torch” but it’s also “packed to the brim with Christmas Spirit.”

The news comes from CBR that got it from a Reddit post with a clip of a TV Guide article.

The article says:

Much better than socks! In this holiday tale set in snowy New York City, Clint Barton, aka heroic archer Hawkeye (Jeremy Renner), gives a truly great gift, passing the bow and arrow on to a new generation. The recipient: Kate Bishop (Halle Steinfeld), a young warrior who worships the Avenger and spent years training to be like him. “Kate is looking for ways to implement those skills,” executive produce Trinh Tran says. “That’s when she runs into Clint, who has no clue who she is and doesn’t really understand his obsession for him.”

Like the Marvel comics by Matt Fraction and David Aja, Hawkeye is both fueled by both action and punchy tête-à-têtes between Kate and Clint. Tran calls the show “grounded and funny, packed to the brim with Christmas spirit.”  And yet….the six episodes take place after the events of 2019 ‘Avengers: Endgame,’ when the five-year disappearance of half the population-including Clint’s wife and kids-was reversed. “The city has in many ways, recuperated and continued thriving,” says Tran, “but the same can’t be said for all it’s citizens.” -Emily Aslanian

So it confirms that Kate Bishop will now be the Hawkeye character. Given how Clint Barton was in Endgame, it does make sense that he would want to not deal with it all anymore. He got his family back but lost his best friend being Hawkeye. We saw how he became Ronin when his family disappeared. For this character, passing the torch, makes sense.

The Christmastime setting that’s “brimming with the Christmas spirit” was a bit surprising though. There are so many New York City Christmas movies already.  I’m curious to see what they do with it.

Some fans are calling Phase 4 the “M-She-U” and I have to admit it’s starting to feel like this is indeed the case. They’re sidelining or replacing almost every MCU hero. Hopefully it’s all good and it pays off!
