It has been rumored for a while now that Oscar Isaac would be playing the popular Comic Book Super Hero as part of Phase 4 of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Some did speculate that he wouldn’t play the character due to his experiences at Lucasfilm, but it appears that he and Marvel were able to strike a deal.
Moon Knight first appeared in Werewolf by Night Issue #32 in August, 1975. Originally depicted as a villain for that specific series, the editorial staff liked the character so much that they actually brought him back as a hero character for their Marvel Spotlight series.
He would later go on to make smaller appearances here and there like in Spectacular Spider-Man Issues #22 & #23 in September/October of 1978, and despite being known as a member of The Avengers he would actually make his team debut as a member of The Defenders.
Born to a family of Jewish Immigrants, Marc Spector joined the United States Marine Corps. and later joined the CIA.
While working in Egypt he and his group stumble across an archeological dig at the temple of “Khonshu”, the Moon God. During the dig an African mercenary named Raoul Bushman kills the head archeologist and greatly wounds Marc, leaving him for dead.
Marc’s body was brought to the temple. There Khonshu came to him in a vision, and offers to heal his wounds in exchange for becoming his Avatar/Host. Marc accepts and if given Khonshu’s powers, defeating Bushman and later returning to America under the alias “Steve Grant.” He becomes a billionaire entrepreneur who fights crime as Moon Knight. Sounds kinda like Batman but with Egyptian Gods instead of cave bats.
The 42 Year Old Golden Globe Winning Actor will be putting on the Moon White cloak and hood when the series debuts in 2022 on Disney Plus.Â
