Marvel Avengers Campus Opens on JUNE 4 in Disneyland! Will Iron Man Look DUMB?

The highly anticipated MCU-themed Avengers Campus is opening in Disneyland on June 4, per Josh D’Amaro, Chairman of Disney Parks, Experiences and Products, on the Disney Parks Blog.

A video showing the campus was also released on the official Disney Parks Blog YouTube channel.

D’Amaro talked to CNBC ahead of a webcast and had the following to say.

“What I can tell you is, it’s awesome,” Josh D’Amaro told CNBC ahead of the webcast. “I think it’s going to be an unbelievable addition to California Adventure. If you think about the [Marvel Cinematic Universe] and what’s happening on that front, as recently as ‘WandaVision,’ it’s hot. It’s a hot franchise. And we now have the ability to open this thing up to the world.”

D’Amaro continued, talking about Disney’s famous (or infamous) brand synergy.

“We’ve got the ultimate playground for Marvel,” D’Amaro said. “As quickly as Kevin [Feige] and that Marvel team can create characters and create stories, we can integrate them.”

The Avengers Campus has taken the place of A Bug’s Land and includes the preexisting Guardians of the Galaxy: Mission: Breakout attraction (formerly the Tower of Terror) at the edge of Hollywood Land. It will also feature a new Spider-Man ride, a restaurant called Pym Particles Test Kitchen and an area based on Dr. Strange.

Marvel Superhero Meet and Greets

No trip to a Disneyland would be complete without a signature meet and greet. It would appear that Disney has designed some new costumes for many of its Marvel characters, but Iron Man, in particular, looks… a little underwhelming.

The new armor debuted at the 5th Anniversary Birthday Celebration of Shanghai Disney Resort, and could be the same type of Iron Man costume we’ll see in Avengers Campus.

BlogMickey.com compared the “Mark 80” suit it to a children’s Halloween costume, and I tend to agree.

Could be worse?

Either way, Avengers Campus will probably pack them in… as much as California’s current COVID protocols will allow, anyway.
