The Orange County Sheriff’s Office arrested 50 year old James Jones after an incident, and possibly two incidents, happened at Walt Disney World’s Magic Kingdom.
The inappropriate touching happened inside the Ye Old Christmas Shop in Liberty Square.
According to WFTV ABC:
“Deputies said the child told their mother and they reported the incident to guest relations where deputies were called to search for Jones.
While investigating this incident, Disney security informed deputies of another report of someone touching a child.
Deputies said the victim reported that a man touched them while exiting the Stretching Room pre-show in the Haunted Mansion.”
Jones was charged with lewd or lascivious molestation. The arrest documents also indicate that officers have a screenshot where Jones is “allegedly seen” touching the victim inside the Christmas shop.
They also believe Jones is the suspect responsible in the Haunted Mansion Stretching Room pre-show incident.
Disney has released a statement:
“We take these kinds of allegations seriously, and when we became aware of the allegations, we engaged law enforcement. He has been trespassed from Walt Disney World.”
This is scary for parents. You are with your kids. You are watching your kids and this still happens.
To be fair it is not Disney’s fault that this occurred and immediately took steps that led to his arrest. As a warning to anyone out there thinking about doing this, they have cameras everywhere!
I know that when my husband, Thom, had a Magic Band issue at the gate they brought up images of him from all over the parks to make sure he was who he said he was. I was behind the cast member and she did do her best for me not to see, but I could see the image. For those that say they don’t use Magic Bands to track you around the park. They do. But in a situation like this one, having cameras around was invaluable in catching and stopping the alleged perpetrator.
Parents, just keep a watchful eye on your kids and make sure you teach your kids to tell you immediately if something like this happens. Do what the mother did and immediately report it to Disney staff.
