Today is the day the next version of the MagicBand arrives. This one is called the MagicBand+ and it does the same stuff that the MagicBand 2 did. You can use it to access Photo Pass, enter the parks with a touch, pay for merchandise with a tap, and open up your hotel room.
It does some new things too like:
Interact with Nighttime Spectaculars
“Watch your MagicBand+ come alive when watching Nighttime Spectaculars.”
Interact with Fab 50 Sculptures
Find the Disney Fab 50 Character Collection sculptures throughout Walt Disney World Resort and experience the magic!
Be a Bounty Hunter at Galaxy’s Edge:
“Vibrations help you find virtual bounties throughout Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge®.”
Magic Bands available now.
Basic ones are $34.99 which is still ridiculous. Special ones are $44.99. The one upside is these do more than the MagicBand2 but the price is about $15 more for a basic one. People are complaining that they aren’t working as they should or they don’t hold a charge (but I do appreciate that these are rechargeable.)
If you are able to buy them for a pre-arrival (trip) you can get them for $24.99 -$34.99.

We’re not actually waving at the statues with our MagicBand+. It feels like this isn’t ready for guests and is being rushed out… pic.twitter.com/zNvGcXj1wg

Honestly, Batuu Bounty Hunters is fun, the highlight being the redemption of credits and the interaction with the creature behind the door pic.twitter.com/H3SdpPPmMI

The new MagicBand+ has a few kinks but I’m getting the hang of it pic.twitter.com/DUwD8Zrk9p

Be sure to bring a charger for your brand new MagicBand+ as mine didn’t have enough of a charge to update the firmware. The good news is you can wear it and charge it at the same time. pic.twitter.com/TX9PcVKNWk

Overall it seems like a fun new addition (albeit they keep getting more and more expensive) but they do seem to have some kinks to work out.
