Luke Skywalker’s Landspeeder Joins LEGO’s Ultimate Collector Series

One of the most iconic land vehicles in science fiction is getting a large and detailed LEGO kit. Luke’s Landspeeder, his beat-up junker ride from A New Hope, is now part of LEGO’s Ultimate Collector Series. This is enormous, detailed, and coming out next week on May 4th!

The Landspeeder (#75341) set has a custom-made windshield, and the entire thing is made up of 1,890 pieces. For those part of LEGO’s VIP club, you’ll get 1,300 points for buying the Landspeeder from LEGO.com. Make sure you have enough shelf space, as this is a pretty big model. The completed speeder comes in at 4″ tall (probably without the display base), 12″ wide, and 20″ deep.

This LEGO kit is priced the same as another classic movie vehicle set. Like ECTO-1, Luke’s Landspeeder is $199.99. I’m surprised because Star Wars items sometimes edge the MSRP higher, but not here.

Here are the Landspeeder’s features:

  • Authentically captured – Add the big specially molded windscreen to the cockpit.
  • Powerful thruster – Repulsortlift helps the speeder ‘hover’ over the Tatooine sands.
  • No detail is overlooked – Random scrap parts and the port turbine is missing its cover.
  • Hop in the driver’s seat – Cockpit features driving stick and detailed dashboard display.
  • Heroes to the rescue – Includes Luke Skywalker™ and newly designed C-3PO™ minifigures.
  • Rise to the challenge – Display the Landspeeder™ in ‘hover’ mode with information plaque.

Luke Skywalker had a sweet life on Tatooine. Bro had his own ride, a rifle, and droids to push around. Why would you want to leave a planet with almost no laws or governmental oversight? Then he met that space wizard and got indoctrinated into his cult. Sigh.

Considering everything that happened to Luke, like his guardians dying a horrible death, the future Jedi Master only seems to be irritated that his X-34 Landspeeder didn’t sell for as much as he’d hoped for. Sorry, guy, but even Jawas aren’t going to pay a premium to what is essentially the intergalactic version of a Ford Probe.
